3 Years ago today I registered my account on Retroids, or VGEvo as it was back then. As like a lot of us, I found VGEvo by way of PSFanboy and there affiliation with the PSNation podcast, pretty sure the first episode i listened to (and the first ever podcast i listened to) was episode 62 Though it took a few more episodes for me to sign up. When i did eventually sign up, i did nothing. How fun. On the 28th June 2008, i got round to making my very first post, which i just spent 10 minutes digging up :D I did eventually unsubscribe shortly before Mark left the show.

Not too long after, i thought I'd give another podcast a go, so up i went to that little drop down box and picked out Interactive Distractions, because I liked the name. The first episode of InDis i listened to was (almost definitely) episode 32, though for some reason i though it was episode 24, but that maybe because i love 24 :D I did eventually go back and start from episode 1 to catch up on what i missed. Despite me only signing up to give thanks for the podcasts i listened t, it took me 4 week to actually thank InDis.

At some point during the last 3 years I have subscribed, unsubscribed, subscribed again and unsubscribed again for whatever reason but I have never unsubscribed from InDis! :) Currently the only podcasts from here I'm subscribed to is InDis and EDP, but i do listen to random episodes form other shows when a topic takes my interest.

Slowly but surely I did eventually get involved with the forums and 3,317 posts later, I'm still here! A few of the names I remember from back then are Arkum, Aceshigh, Ravenblad86, Torgo, SavoryCade, Shino, Goffey, Unastrike, SpoilerAlert and probably a ton more I'm forgetting. If i were to list all the names i know now, I'd be here all day!

These days i (think) i am a familiar name round the forums and hopefully don't do anything to piss someone off. I spend my days constantly pressing the new posts button and lurking on the shoutbox as well as bulls**tting with people on twitter on a daily basis :D

So i wanna give a big thanks and a virtual hug to each and every single one of you who I've talked to over the past 3 years, you've made this place my favourite thing on the internet (well, apart from porn)

Thanks for having me!

I ain't going anywhere soon.

Let me start this attempt of a review with this; I'm not a writer, i don't claim to be. I can barely string a sentence together let alone get my thoughts into words, luckily, i have a spell checker so at least my spelling should be above mediocre. Also, sorry for the massive pictures, i haven't the foggiest how to have them as thumbnails. Anywho, the review!

Motorstorm Apocalypse developed by Evolution Studios, Published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
Bought by myself.

Story Mode: Complete
Online: Played plenty of it.
Screenshots takes with the in game photo mode.

Gameplay
You should already know enough about Motorstorm to know what kind of game it is so i won't go into that. I played and enjoyed the original Motorstorm, i also played Pacific Rift but quickly lost enjoyment because I was always crashing into everything since I couldn't really see the turns well enough (though this may be because I played it on a SDTV whereas I'm playing Apocalypse on a HDTV,) Thankfully i don't have this problem with Apocalypse and I'm pleased to say the graphics are fantastic. As the title of the game suggests, s**t gets f**ked up around you! Similar to Split/Second, the race track changes as you race around which keeps you on edge. As well as the track changes you experience many natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Building collapse as you drive on the top of them and planes crash right beside you. The handling of the cars are pretty much the same as previous instalments, which is definitely a good thing and the motorbike controls seem much tighter than before. This is the first Motorstorm game to feature story mode put together with some beautifully drawn comic style animations, the story itself isn't the best but what are you expecting from an arcade racer?

Soundtrack
The music in Motorstorm, provided by Dubstep artist such as Elite Force And Noisia) and probably some other people and composers) suits the game very well with it's fast paced beats and loud bass but if Dubstep isn't your thing worry not, this game supports custom soundtracks!

Online
The online mode of Motorstorm is fantastic enough to keep you coming back for more. The 16 player racers keep you on the edge of your seet the whole time and the addition of perks and bets keep the races fresh. Before you race you select a racer to bet on, if you come above them you win and you have the option to gamble your winnings on the next race which, if you win bags you even more chips which goes towards levelling up. The addition of perks is also welcome addition allowing you to boost yourself with perks such as the ability to cooldown faster or add strength to your rams against opponents.

The Good

Vehicles control very well

Excellent soundtrack

Great graphics, especially in the environmental effects

Fantastic online modes

The Not So good

Throwaway story

Sometimes feels like it's a bit to easy to crash when clipping walls or lamposts

Summary
One of the best arcade racers since Burnout Paradise featuring a ton of different modes along with highly customizable cars. The environmental effects add an extra layer of depth to the races.

Score
9/10
You'd be daft not to buy this!

10 Reasons To Watch 24

This was written late last night so i may make no sense :D

*1. Every episode is in real time!*

This was written late last night so i may make no sense :D

1. Every episode is in real time!
For those of you not in the now, 24 takes place over one 24 hour period. each episode is 42 minutes long, include the adverts and you get an hour...oh yeah..that right, the action continues through the adverts. (don't worry, adverts are usually used as a way to skip boring travel scenes)

2 .Splitscreens!
If someone's on the phone, in a chase or in a shootout, you can pretty much guarantee thetspitscreen will be used so you never miss anything that's going on!

3. Fast paced camera work!
You may not really notice this unless your told to pay attention, but in almost every scene the camera angles change every 5 seconds(ish) ensuring you never get bored with the same angle. (that reason was a bit of a cop out but ts hard to explain why its cool:D)

4. Its not Lost!
By that i mean pretty much every storyline is explained and wrapped without you thinking "eh?"

5. Great stories!
the twists and turns that are revealed throughout a season of 24 are almost always awesome, Things happen that you would never have guessed and most episodes end with cliff hangers that will blow your mind.

6. The villains
im not talking about your petty nameless goons that get sot all the time, im talking about the head honcho baddie. all of them want to blow s**t up but they don't go about it by using your day to day average joe bomb, Whether there kidnapping family members or releasing nerve gas into the public you can guarantee they`ll be great.
You may even find villains in people you wont expect!

7. The Music
Not much to say here but composer Sean Callery does an excellent job creating the right music for every scene.

8.Different settings!
This isnt a hospital show, you wont be looking at the same scenery every episode of every season, locations vary from season to season with new look CTU`s keeping the main HQ looking fresh!

9. The supporting cast!
Not every episode is centred around the main character, often supporting characters get major parts in stories or there part of a sub story.

This leads me to the last part, the one whose name iv cunningly avoided from mentioning throughout this, its no surprise what it is, so without further a do...

10. The man himself...Jack Bauer!
Jack Bauer is the most badass guy on TV. how many characters do you know that is willing to sacrifice everything for his country and ask for nothing in return. He`s awesome. He shoots a dog in the face with a shot gun. He cuts a head off with a hacksaw. He has a heart attack and stil gets the job done. He`s (quoting a season 8 trailer) "the guy that always does the right thing" and he does, even if his methods seem abit extreme.

And that's the end of this. now what are you waiting for?

GO WATCH 24!
