Ever wanted to talk to your Steam friends and browse the store on your phone? Well boy do I have a deal for you!

Valve announced and launched "Steam Mobile" today, an app for both Android and iOS platforms. You can chat, read a limited selection of certain games, browse groups and profiles, and purchase games for download later.

THe app is coming out in limited beta at the moment, so you can only use it if you have been invited.

Company president and co-founder Gabe Newell said the app comes at the request of many. "Mobile is changing the way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our commitment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone," said Newell.

No word on any kind of Steam for iOS/Android games, but its unlikely, at least for Apple devices.
