A Farewell to Games

Rate this Entry
Hey, I have a blog! Cool. Let's use it!

Hey everyone who has taken the time to read this. Geoff here. Or maybe I should go by Geoffrey so as not to be confused with that other guy. Sounds good. Whatever.

Well, it's been a marvelous year-and-some-months with VGEVO and being a hardcore gamer. We've seen a wonderful array of brilliant games that have sucked up most of my free time and I have witnessed my collection of games and game consoles multiply considerably. And I got to meet some awesome people at the Midwest Gaming Classic! But unfortunately, I have found that I have not dedicated enough time to doing what I should be doing, which is bettering my life.

I graduated from college in December 2008 and now it is nearing the middle of 2010 and I am still typing prescriptions at Walgreens. I have decided that in order to better myself I need to cut down on my playing of video games significantly. By freeing up my free time I can focus on more important things, like my writing (I have three projects underway, and when I'm done typing up this little doohickey, I'm sitting down and adding some finishing touches to one before sending it out for consideration for publication) and getting into grad school (currently looking but not decided on which school). And by cutting my video game habit down, I can free up some income to start getting my finances in order.

I'm not going to stop gaming altogether but I am going to drastically reduce my gaming time. It's going to be a positive step for my life. Hooray!

Well, there you have it; my first blog post is complete. Thanks for reading!

Best of luck with your goals. Games are just games and dont do much more than entertain. Still, one nice thing about video games is that they will still be there when/if you want to play them again.
