Starting something new!

Rate this Entry
As many of you may or may not know - I've been a little absent from the Retroids community since MGC. I have decided to continue schooling post undergrad, so getting things ready - fitting in some last minute items before I start in a few weeks... Couple a small vacations as well worked in.

In any case, I wanted to at least throw up a post up here for those curious. I will be putting school as top priority so I'll still be gaming but much, much less frequently, and thats ok- after school is done there will be plenty of time to pick up for lost time!

However, this post can't happen without a little gaming update, right?

Having built a new PC, I dove into a number of titles I maybe missed or just couldn't run at full. A few small things to note:
Diablo III - despite the negative feedback on the web, I like it. That is all. This is the sole reason I jumped on a new system build and I am not regretting it.

BF3: Console owners aren't missing much, this game is fun, and sure it looks better, but its the same experience I get on my Xbox.

Crysis2: Looks great, but same as BF3, not missing a whole lot.

Dirt3/Showdown: These do look great on the PC, but again, not missing a lot if you are playing this on the console.

Guild Wars 2 Beta: Looking good and fun, I anticipate playing a little of this on and off when its released - worth getting a PC for? Ah hard to tell..

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - this is exactly the same as CS of the past, but a little more "accessible"- this is the same tactical shooter we know and love- actually the same engine I believe. Personally, I expected more. Not a reinvention, but how about we just revamp the interface? Weapon buying, or something to move with the FPS scene....there really is nothing about this game I can use to sell to current COD/BF players other than "this is shooting at its core"??? Its competitive, and I will play the hell out of it. But how much of that is nostalgia? I'd say about 90%!

Starcraft2: Hard. Fun. Competitive. This game is as deep as you want it. I like it.

Steam has a SLEW of games and I find although I've been away from the bleeding edge PC gaming for a number of years, doesn't look like I missed TOO much that I didnt get on the consoles. PC Gaming has always felt the most comfortable to me, just because I like the mouse and keyboard, social aspects. But I find the only real draw on the PC now. 5 years ago I was playing Bf2, Diablo2, CS, , guild wars, unreal. The only thing missing right now is a new Unreal, but Tribes is a GREAT replacement IMO. If you have a decent gaming machine, give this game a whirl.

Forza 4 of course has been in my xbox...and I actually just noticed the plastic ring is cracked on my disc!?!?! I used to see this from CDs I owned and used a lot...its odd cause the Forza disc only travels from my hand to the box a couple times a month. I have put more time into this game I think, than just about anything I've owned up to this point. I have to check my actual driving time. It used to be Everquest 2 as champ, then SF4 took it over with a couple hundred hours...now Forza I think surpassed that. And I still have yet to beat the single player!!! Love this game.

So thats about all I have for now, but feel free to hit me up on here or email, twitter etc. 360 Nation should be handed off to someone, if not...I might just curb podcasting until after school in 3-4 years!
