Since I'm on a Metroidvania kick, I'd like to point out one of my favorite DS games, Monster Tale. It's a fantastic game that's kid friendly, but with a lot of Castlevania and Metroid references that only older gamers would get. (Such as running left as soon as you start instead of right to get your first power) The sound track is pretty great as well. This was made by the fine folks who made Henry Hatsworth by the way.









This one was fun. Level took place inside a monster night club.



If you want to learn more, I remember a GiantBomb quicklook of it when it was released.

I've got a choice to make and I could use the help of the Retroids community.

I have the chance to get one of the following items:
1. R.O.B. The Robot for the NES
2. Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 2 (a very rare game)
3. A Sega Genesis and an assortment of games
4. A Sega Dreamcast and an assortment of games.

The collector in me wants that rare Rescue Rangers game, but everything else looks so good.

This episode Craig takes over and we cover Homeland, League of Legends, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Alcatraz and Vita stuff. We also make fun of Jake’s choice of games.
In news we talk comprehensively about multiplayer models, free DLC and the future of Sony, and then laugh at some pretty weird Limited Edition content. And weird means really weird.
In the second half we have a massive discussion about The Avengers! and the preceding tie-in movies and what we thought of the idea, then we round off with out usual Game of Thrones episode review and discussion.
That’s episode 42; make sure you listen right to the end, as our out-takes this week are pretty laugh worthy.

Has anyone caught this tour? I saw it this weekend in Atlanta and was blown away!

In case you don't know, it's a four movement symphony all centered on music from the Zelda series. Each movement is focused on a specific game, and while the music is playing, there is a large screen which sometimes shows moments from the games which match up with the music.

I'd recommend anyone who's a fan of the Zelda games and music try to catch this show, well worth it. So much nostalgia, and I definitely have the drive to catch up on the ones I haven't completed yet.

The demoscene never cease to amaze.

Worthy winner of the PC 4kB intro competition at Revision 2012 and latest example of the compact-coding tradition exercised within the demoscene, Hartverdrahtet by Akronyme Analogiker is a three minute long audio-visual trip into a procedural fractalverse, compressed into a minuscule piece of software. No bigger than 4069 bytes – less than an empty Word document, as demoscene activists like to point out – the executable file contains all the mathematics needed to generate the unfolding visual complexity and audible ambience upon a double-click. A solo effort by a talented coder who calls himself Demoscene Passivist, Hartverdrahtet reveals a mesmerizing cosmos observed through what could be an electron microscope – ethereal, greenish and a little eerie.
