Default Can You RUN It? - Game specification test

Very useful site if your not sure if your computer will run a PC game Can You RUN It?

    What it does
This site provides a One-Click solution that looks at your computer's hardware and system software to determine whether or not your current system can run a product. Each of your computer's components is evaluated to see how well it meets the minimum and recommended requirements for specific products. Recommendations are made on how to update or upgrade each component which does not meet the listed requirements. Sometimes, a simple, free software download is all that is needed. Sometimes you'll find that you need a different video card to fully experience what the game has to offer.

Thanks for the info Ravenblade. This is a very interesting site. After analyzing my system on numerous games that I own and soon-to-be released games, I have mixed impression of this site. It's both helpful and discouraging. It helps you easily quantify your PC's abilities but it also may highlight your PC's weaknesses ( if you have a PC that lies in the murky middleground between smokin'n fast and snail speed ) reminding you that you need to upgrade your PC.

I couldn't help noticing the "we recommend" links that appear next to items that your PC failed which link you to sites selling computers. Makes you wonder if the results are skewed on the slow side to prompt you to visit the sponsor links.

After examing the system requirements for a wide variety of recent games, I find no rhyme or reason in these games' system requirements. Some games like Half Life 2 give you great graphics for relatively low hardware requirements. And then there's games that make no sense like the forthcoming Guitar Hero : Aerosmith for PC for which my PC could not pass the recommended requirements ( and yet passes the recommended requirements for Mass Effect, and Bioshock which have way more impressive graphics than Guitar Hero ). This sort of nonsense really turns me off the idea of gaming on a PC.

Yeah, I've been using the site for some time, very useful for ppl with older PC's. But, since I can run Crysis way over recommended, I don't think I'll be using it that often.

Can I play Crysis warhead? No, FAIL!!! I should have a minimum of 1 gig of ram, 2 gig recommended. This crappy PC, even though its still reasonably new has less than 500 meg.

Nice test though. Its great to know how poor my PC actually is

I haven't used this site in a while (maybe it has changed), but I remember it not being very accurate as far as gauging the computer's performance. I had a laptop that had no business running modern games, and Can You RUN It seemed to think I was able to run Crysis on low settings. Just for giggles, I installed and ran it to see. On 640x480 with everything on low in DX9, I managed a whopping 9 fps.

I don't mean to rain on the parade though. Can You RUN It can be very informative for getting a ballpark estimate for your PC's performance capabilities.

for the fun of it, I checked my work laptop for its ability to play SW:TOR.
It said that it should run fine.

But they are wrong. I ran it on here once and it ran at single digit frame per second on the lowest video settings.
