General help
The MGC Chatbox Evo is really easy to use

You can :
  1. Send chats : you just have to enter the text in the dedicated input field and then to validate it by pushing the return key ou by clicking on the OK button.
  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*
* : Depending on the settings chosen by the administrator(s) of the forum, you might not have access to all these features.

Exclamation Hey, does anybody in charge care about bandwidth?

I'm gonna speak out of turn here; but come on guys - we're in an increasingly portable digital age. This site is a bear on mobile devices and there are limitations and restrictions on avatar file sizes and resolution.

How about we rein in some of the stupidly large signature images bogging this site down for end users?

Seriously, why in the hell should users be required to load a 2.8 MEGABYTE signature image when trying to read a forum?

Ignoring the option to turn off signatures in the control panel; this is just a waste of bandwidth. I've also seen some pinhead here with a massive Uncharted 2 signature. Really?!

It's a waste of bandwidth, and super inconsiderate to other users. Give it some thought Ken and Terry.

Like I said, this is an increasingly mobile computing device age; and the faster and easier it is for users to access this site the better it is for everybody.

Well with all due respect I see your point but the people who have said sigs also paid for the right to have them.... So.... I see your plight but people paid money to have the right to use the sigs.

I took your complaint....and I THREW IT ON THE GROUUUUNNNDDD!

Seriously though, I think that silver and gold members earned the right to post their sigs, even if some are resource-intensive. I guess the best thing to do would be to ask nicely if they can tone it down a bit...or have a mobile-friendly version of VGEvo (if it doesn't take too much time and effort to do.)

With all due respect, they only pay for 500x200, 265K size avatars. It's cool that they're allowed to get more than they pay for. They sure must feel special!

It's not like people on the go need to chat about on the go. In fact, I adhere to the belief that it is solely Vgevo's fault for allowing bloated signatures that the PSPGO is not selling, and why the iPad will not sell.

    Truth.

I'm fine with signatures like the one above. But they are a b***h on mobile devices. Maybe there could be a moble version of the site? I don't know much abotu vBadvanced and its plug-in support.. but with wordpress there is a plugin that auto detects mobile browsers and changes the site accordingly. Theamplifiedgamers.com and GamegamePOW are using it. It also has an option to switch the page back to "normal" view if you desire.

    Would that help you Marquis?

Also... on some mobile devices you can outright block images completely. I know I usually do that whenever the time arises that I browse on my PSP.

I've pitched a mobile version of the site in the past.

Haven't heard any response on it.

I visit multiple sites that offer stripped down versions for mobile devices. If Ken and Co. got a VGEVO mobile site up and running that would be great.

As for paying for signatures; there should still be bandwidth and file size policies in effect. Just something I learned as an old web admin. This is a message board, not 4chan.

What about the poor slobs that are on ISP's that have bandwidth caps? If they come here and have to download stupidly large signature images that negatively impacts their bandwidth allotment.

Like i said, I personally have your signatures turned off. I don't want to see your fortune cookie length sentence, followed by 800 pixels, or more, of wasted space. 10% text, 90% image is not a ratio I'm in favor of. I also tax the upper limits of AdBlock for other images.

I'm good about restricting what gets through to my desktop; but it's the mobile devices and general usage that I'm raising questions about here.

There's also an association with user / avatar that is built up online. So blocking all images is detrimental as I can't just scan a page and spot Arkum, nonameken, etc. posts.

I wouldn't pay Ken an annual fee to crap on his lawn, which is what signatures over 500kb is doing.

    Kids these days. . .

Is this even relevant with the Tapatalk app?
