FF games have been hit and miss for a while. It's obvious that for 13 they put way too much effort into certain aspects of the game and sacrificed so many others in order to get a FF game out on next gen consoles. I don't think it was a bad game, but it didn't live up to the FF name. They definitely want to correct that now, and lets hope they do, the JRPG market has been fading for a while I hope they can revitalize it.

what they should do is evaccuate the square enix building and get every one of their employees to torch the building using molotov cocktails, and while the building burns to the ground get them to spit on it as much as they can. while throwing the finger and urinating on it.

THAT would be preferrable over final fantasy 13-2

What they really need to do is a prettied up, un-jaggied re-make of FF IX. I know I'm in the minority, but 9 is easily my all time favorite FF game.

After the halfway point, I absolutely loved FF13, what a beautiful game. My other favorites were x, viii, and vii. And Squenix has admitted that they screwed up on 13 (at least in some ways), so hopefully they can take a lesson from what they did in the first half of the game. The latter half was by far what people liked the most.

I'm at ch 12 and it's very hard to get back into it. Where I'm at right now it's very tough and i, keep dying. I'm going to see if I have an earlier save to work me into the battle system. Also another reason getting rid of towns and world maps sucked. If i could get in my airship and go to some other easier areas that would be cool!

Sorry, thats still just your opinion. Final Fantasy XIII did just fine selling 6 million units. I would say that equals a hit. The review scores weren't bad either.

And I had enough fun with FFXIII to buy it twice play it twice and also name it my 2010 GOTY.

It's kinda their own damn fault for putting a new number after the trusted old name, but I really do not understand the disdain that people have for this series. Half the people think 7 is a work of art, the other think it's overrated garbage. Half the people think 10 was too linear, the other found it to be way more accessible.

Whatever your feelings toward a particular title in the series, SE never goes the route of rehashed cash-in for the series' main entries and I think they deserve to be praised for it. FF13 is really bad if they were aiming to make a new FF7 like the masses seem to think they want. Call it anything other than Final Fantasy though, and I think 13 is praised last year, maybe not as a GOTY candidate, but at least as an intriguing foundation for other RPGs to learn from.

I haven't even finished it myself, and 10 is the only FF I've ever managed to see through all the way to completion, so maybe my opinion should be taken lightly in the presence of big JRPG fans around here. Taken for what it is though, not only is FF13 ripe with really interesting combat mechanics, but I'd argue a pretty impressive game over all. People heard Final Fantasy and they got certain ideas in their heads about what that meant. When the game came out without trying to be exactly what those expectations were, everyone decided they wanted to join the masses in talking a lot of s**t rather than enjoy the multitude of things it did right.

Anyway, if you're not a fan of FF13, the announcement of a direct sequel probably isn't fantastic news for you. On the bright side, if there's a significant misstep in the series in your estimation, you can always fall back on the fact that FF15 is guaranteed to be nothing like it. It's just the way these dudes make games.

Square Enix has enough blind followers that they'll never have to worry about sales. Of course it'll sell, it's Final Fantasy! Hell, they got my money, full price too! After wasting 40 hours on it, I can't say I got my money's worth though, but others will always say "Final Fantasy is teh best EVAR!"

Now that I think about it, I'm excited for a sequel to "Run Forward, and Mash X Part 2". I'm sure it'll be loads of fun.

Square Enix has pretty much lost me as a fan, but that's pretty much the same as saying I won't play Call of Duty. People like me are well outnumbered by the masses who will buy the game regardless of quality. :-\

Well thats a direct correlation to your tastes as a gamer. As I've said multiple times in voicemails ive sent to InDis and Goo when I originally played FF13 I ended up putting it down for two weeks. I went in not with lowered expectations but different ones I think once I wrapped my mind around what they were going for I enjoyed it a whole hellva lot more.

Of course there can be improvements but then again ALL games can be improved. There is no perfect game. We can flip this argument you have with FF13 and turn that over to GT5 which I believe you adamantly defend. Just like FF13 there is a group of people who feel completely the opposite of what you feel because different expectations = different experiences.

Its just like when people tell me Gamestop is s**t. I personally have NEVER had a bad experience there. So why should I quit shopping there? If You've had a bad experience then I can't blame you for not wanting to shop there but I haven't had that bad experience.

So to bring it back around my experience with FF13 in the end was a very good one and one I remembered through the whole year. You possibly had different expectations out of the game. You can't really fault the game on a technical level because everything runs smooth as butter. So it just comes down to personal tastes.

well after my ps3 yelow lighted i felt that playing through ff13 again would kill me unlike playing through say valkyria chronicles. i guess the point is unlike other ff games 13 just doesnt have the same legs as say ff9 which still holds up today
