D2FX show progress thread

Hi there, guys. First off I'd like to thank you all for your continued support of our show. We always appreciate you guys telling other people about us, word of mouth is certainly a powerful tool in getting our name out there. So thankyou to all who've helped, and all those who simply listen to our craziness.

Now comes the bad part; Our show, as you all know takes nearly 2-3 months per episode to make and get out the door to you fine folks. Thats the time cost of creating such a high production value show. Along with the sound effects and music, we have a condenser microphone that gives us really superb quality vocals. Unfortunately, just today, RayG's preamp soundcard that he plugs the condenser mic into blew up, which is certainly bad. It means we can't record at the moment. Combine that with the fact the card costs around £300 and we're not wealthy means we're going to have to bite the bullet and make a "regular" speaking podcast with low quality mics until we can afford to pay out for a new firewire based preamp. We're also thinking of making some short videos to help ease the absence of our great show.

We're truly sorry to all our fans who have been waiting on Alieoroidiosaurs and D2FX episode 9.

Just to be clear, we don't intend to abandon the podcast because of this, we just won't be able to create our high quality radio dramas until this expense has been sorted out.

I personally feel terrible that we take so long on getting a show out as it is, and we're set back by another roadblock. But I hope you amazing people can understand. All we ask is that you please be patient with us and we'll be back and better than ever before you know it.

UPDATE!!!!!
RayG has, RIGHT NOW, in his posession, an adapter that allows us to record high quality audio again. This means that instead of using a £300 focusrite sound card, it's a simple condenser microphone adapter that changes the port to USB! You can now look forward to us resuming production of episode 9 and alieoroidiosaurs!

No thanks are necessary! Just large sums of unmarked cold hard cash will do!

Sorry to hear that guys, for real. It always sucks when things like that come out of nowhere.

Sure it takes you guys a while but it's always worth it! So hopefully things will get worked out and you'll be doing your thing in no time.

Seriously, don't worry about it! We'll be fine with the 'regular speaking' podcasts until you get things back to normal. As long as you have fun with it, your audience will too.

Tech failure is never good...or cheap. I'm sure normal shows will be just fine for the time being and best of luck getting your card replaced!

That sucks about the equipment guys. I'm glad that it didn't stop you from wanting to and being able put out a show for your audience. Take as long as you need to get your show back to normal.......or whatever is considered normal for your podcast.
