Awesome! I'll get back into this starting Monday. I made a thread 2 years ago in the Lose to Win section about this challenge...

Last time my shoulder gave out and killed my motivation after waiting a couple weeks for it to heal up:

Rested for about 20 minutes, and tried to just lower myself again, and the shoulder still gave out... so I guess I'm putting this on hiatus for a while to make sure I don't do some serious damage. Just got done giving it a soak, and I'll be light on it for a few days now. Hopefully once it heals I won't have lost too much progress.

I really don't have an excuse not to try this. My PS3 is back and I also haven't put in EA Active 2 yet. I used to do crunches as well (to try to lose my gut). But I've been lazy with exercise, big time.

Yeah, I remember you talking in the forums about this. I think that's where I first heard about it. Definitely agree about overdoing it, getting an injury and then getting completely derailed. I was doing the beginner powerlifting programme at stronglifts.com 2 years ago and I developed tendinitis from pushing to fast and not taking my time, it took over 6 months before my arm worked right again and a year before it felt the same. I also have to be very careful of my rotator cuff (all the muscles in the shoulder that give the arm stability and mobility) because I damaged it as an electrician. if i feel even the slightest twinge during pullups I stop right away or I won't be able to move my neck and shoulders for 2 days.

A couple years ago I used to think that ab exercises reduced stomach fat as well......but crunches will not make a gut smaller. the body decides where to distribute fat and where to take it off, and unfortunately we have no choice in the matter. Crunches are definitely a great core exercise though, but I guarantee a 250-500 drop in calories a day and 30 minutes of walking 2 miles 4 times a week would get you much further if you want quick fat loss results. Plus when done the right way, because you lock your body rigid, pushups work a lot of those same abdominal stabilizer muscles already.

Crunches are good for your abs, but there is no such thing as spot reduction. You can only reduce overall bodyfat with a negative caloric balance. While crunches burn a few calories, it's not enough to have any major impact.

I guess I should stop believing those stupid exercise equipment commercials that tell me the opposite, huh?

Screw it, why not? I think I can about 30 straight right now. Let's see what needs doing!

    Week 5, Day 3, Level 2: 18,18,20,20,17,17,20,26,22 Total 178

I was supposed to do a final set of 45. but I had to break it into 26 and 22. Also now it only gives 45 secs between reps so I admit I cheated and added 30 secs and sometimes a full minute to the counter, my recovery rate just isn't there yet. Max rep test on Sunday I believe.

Going to do my entry test tomorrow morning. This should be fun. Hopefully I can at least still get to 40.
