I was definitely overweight before the holidays. But after the holidays were over, I realized that I gained a significant amount of weight. I'm definitely 10 pounds above where I was. My pants fit tighter, my 2XL shirts are starting NOT to fit me nicely, and I feel even more tired than I ever have been. I've also never been this heavy before...a whopping 239.2 lbs!! That's the biggest I've ever been and I HATE it!
So, I'm trying a low carb lifestyle, in fact I already started about 3 days ago. The above paragraph is exactly how I felt prior to starting it. After limiting my carbs for 3 days I'm already noticing my energy go up and I feel better overall. I will give a weight report next week on Wednesday, February 1st. Hopefully I don't go in the opposite direction!

I also watched the movie, Fat Head (on Netflix now) which gives a pretty solid argument for going low carb. I'm not one to let a documentary influence my lifestyle to such a degree, but a lot of what was said makes sense. Thanks to Goffey for recommending the film!
The goal is to lose 10 lbs. before MGC. If I lose more, great! But I need to have an initial goal. Ultimately I'd like to be 50 lbs. lighter, but baby steps to the ultimate goal is the only way this is going to work for me.
So again, starting weight = 239.2 lbs. I'll weigh in again on February 1st. Wish me luck!
UPDATE (2/22/12)
Starting weight = 239.2
Week 1 = 237.2
Week 2 = 236.4
Week 3 = 234.6
Week 4 = 233.6

You got this!
Good that you're trying to get down in weight man. I've been on a diet for over a year now, and its essentially a super-low calorie diet. 425 calories a day getting my body to the point of ketosis to burn as much fat as i can without having to even excersise.
On the diet i'm on, I lost 21lbs in the first week. if you wanna learn more, u can check it out at www.lipotrim.co.uk i dont know if there's anything like it in the US tho.

I'm sure you'll be amazed at how much fly's off at the start with just cataloging and controlling your food, I wouldn't be surprised to see you down 20lbs by MGC.
