Good luck for sure!
I've put myself on a low cal diet I've used before. I'm trying to stay under 1200 calories a day. I've lost about 13 lbs in the first 4 weeks.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Yes, some sort of low impact exercise would be beneficial to help the process and just for good overall health. I'll see what works best (Yes, EA Active would be a logical choice).

I was planning on losing 20 lbs before the Midwest Gaming Classic, then I took and arrow in the knee.

I have actually started to work out more as well. I'm on the 4th day of my EA Sports Active 2 program. I'm doing it because of my ski trip in less than a month and want to build up some lower body strength before skiing for 2 days straight, but want to lose some weight, as I know that I have put on over 20lbs in the last year. I read all the posts and would not recommend a lower cal diet, but definitely agree with the low carb diet (actually that's what Ashley tells me at least and you can always reach out to her if you have any questions). My best suggestion would do something that you can maintain forever, a lifestyle change. Otherwise, once/if you revert back, the weight has a good chance of coming back, whereas a lifestyle change is permanent. For me, I am still going to eat pizza and other items, in moderation, but I am also eating a lot more healthy foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc). Good luck!!
First of all, I'm rooting for you. Choices to benefit your health are always great. I lost 25 pounds last year doing the low carb thing just half-assed, I have much faith that you can make your goal.
Second, I've been looking for an excuse to start back up with EA Sports Active 2, so a bunch of us should start something.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Well, I said I'd update you guys on Feb. 1st (one week from when I started) and I'm down exactly two (2) pounds from last week. So...
Starting weight = 239.2
Week 1 = 237.2
As a lot of you have already suggested, I've decided it would be best for me to stick with low carb (keeping it to around 100 grams of carbs a day, tops) during the week, and reward myself a little bit on the weekends. I'm still going to stay reduced on weekends, but I'm allowing for more flexibility when it comes to, say, eating a sandwich with bread, or a burger with a bun. As Krakerjak stated, you have to be on something you can live with...a lifestyle change rather than something short-lived and extreme (And yes, I may come to Ashley for further suggestions).
Some of you have also mentioned EA Sports Active 2. Rather than have a game/workout program just sitting on our shelves (We all bought it for a reason, right?), we should definitely get something going. A couple of years ago, we had a "Lose To Win" contest where participants contributed $20 into a prize pool as an incentive for weight loss. There was a first, second and third place prize amount taken from the pool for the top 3 people with the most weight lost. If you guys would like to try something like this again, we can work out the details and set it up. We can set the start and end date and $20 per person still seems fair. Let me know!

Awesome Terry... stick with it.
I'm working on losing some weight too...
Started Monday... down 2lbs so far. I need to be pretty strict on myself... after my surgery I couldn't work out for a month or two and after that I just wasn't motivated... trying to get that motivation back. Worked out Monday and this morning!
Keep at it man...
