Killzone 3 multiplayer goes free to play!

The info was revealed in the latest Official PlayStation Blogcast over on the US PlayStation Blog. In it they say “They’re going to release the standalone Killzone 3 multiplayer mode. It’s going to have all the maps and you’re going to be able to get it for free and it’s going to have a level cap and when you hit this level cap you’re going to be able to buy the entire game”. They also call the single player game ‘bodacious’. Like, for real. They’re not even joking.

So far only the US release is being mentioned with a price tag of $14.99 to unlock the level cap. Chances are localisation issue will mean it’ll take a while until it reach the EU. They say it’s to keep the “multiplayer mode out there and active” but I’d say it’s a free-to-play experiment to gauge the success for future release. What do you think? Do you want to see free-to-play games hit PlayStation? Think it’ll work?

Best news for people that have yet to buy the game and at $15 alone is a great deal. Now maybe more players will show up in the War zone mode now..

This is free when the store is updated in your area and then after the level cap ( not known yet) is met you will be asked if you like to purchase it. Still $15 is a great deal and there is a DBL EXP point weekend scheduled for a weekend (yet to be announced ) in early March.

Thanks for the update ... I can't imagine I'll hit the cap tho
