So what do you guys think about where Google is heading with Augmented Reality? Haven't heard about it yet? Check this video out!



Speculation says an initial version of these glasses may be available to the public by the end of the year (though surely not anywhere near as high caliber as this youtube video looks)

So its a smart phone for your eyes? I think that this looks kind of dumb and impractical yet the google maps part is kind of a cool idea.

Haha. That's why I think its impractical because it has a lot of stuff that is blocking your vision.

Playing devil's advocate here— Just a new gadget for thieves to steal right off your head. Easier to steal than any other gadget to date! At least a phone or an iPod can be in your pocket. Not to mention, "Oops, I dropped my glasses" will cost you a LOT more than a lens replacement in a pair of glasses now.

They've also outlawed texting in cars for many states. I can see these getting outlawed for impairing vision + major distraction from keeping your eyes on the road.

I don't think is farther than 5 years away. Probably less.

But I can see cops having it before us. They could use it for facial recognition and then law enforcement is driving around looking for criminals, like in the near future when there is Used Game Crime Units. It would see Anim8ted coming out of some dark alley and then it would zap him with some sort of neural handcuffs and he would be fined 10 platinum trophies.
