General help
The MGC Chatbox Evo is really easy to use

You can :
  1. Send chats : you just have to enter the text in the dedicated input field and then to validate it by pushing the return key ou by clicking on the OK button.
  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*
* : Depending on the settings chosen by the administrator(s) of the forum, you might not have access to all these features.

Default Retroids Themes - Feedback - Requests - Submissions

Unless you're blind or have a really small monitor, chances are you've noticed the themes over there to the left and right.

If you want to make and submit your own, download this template .PSD, it works fine in Photoshop and Gimp and pretty it up with some images. Here's an example of how one of my finished themes look.

    Resources:
    http://vgboxart.com/browse-resources/
    http://www.creativeuncut.com/index.html
    http://www.atariage.com/system_catal...?SystemID=2600
    http://www.atariage.com/system_items...ItemTypeID=BOX
    http://www.atariage.com/magazines/index.html
    http://planetrenders.net/

Once you've put a theme together, save it as a .PNG, upload it to somewhere like Dropbox or Mediafire (I wouldn't advise using an image host, most of them usually convert it to a different format and some quality can be lost.) and PM it to Ken and / or Terry for consideration, remember, not all themes will be used, so don't take it personally if yours doesn't get used.

If you don't know how to use Photoshop or Gimp, or just can't be bothered, just make a request in this thread and I'll try and get to it ASAP. Feel free to leave any feedback for any of the themes as well.

Other than not being able to see the theme completely because my screen resolution is 1280x800, I like this new addition to the site. I downloaded the template and have been thinking of themes to make for the forum. I want to make one suggestion though which would be to have the name of the game somewhere visible since there are a few themes that I don't recognize.

I already submitted a few (RidgeRacer3D, Totori, Deus Ex HR, etc), but it's kinda sad that they get compress so heavily. I handed them over with a size of ~500kb, but they end up on the site with ~100kb. Not much for a 1080p picture.

That is so pages load in a reasonable amount of time. Each new image request requires a certain amount of overhead and latency. Personally, I don't think the images look that compressed at all and I'm viewing the site at 1920 x 1080.

Well, ultimately it's up to you guys. I do see the jpeg compression artifacts and degradation in picture quality, but I've also seen the higher quality version so that might be another factor.

I'm actually amazed the images load so quickly on every page. Even 100kb is a lot of weight to add for each page load. I love the look, even though the first time I saw it I thought it was an ad, lol. Are they disabled for mobile browsing, this would drive me crazy on a phone.

I can't see them on the iPhone. And if you have Tapatalk, you obviously won't see them either.

Can there be a way to have a permanent theme and to choose which theme I want as a background from a list of all the uploaded themes?

Weird, I was just talking to Terry about the custom code I'm working on to provide exactly that feature...

    Are you bugging my house?
