Count me in. If not day one, soon thereafter—for all the reasons stated above, and more!

Awesome Terry, it sort of feels like we have a good critical mass with this game, at least of people who really like it. I look forward to a lot of goofy stuff. Nice thing about this is we don't need the host player to have really good bandwidth as they allow you to host private games on their server.

    Check your email guys.

Sony just sent me a message about a demo on the single player mode at a local Best Buy tomorrow (4/28). Well not so local, it's about 40 miles away; but yours may be closer.

Here's a story trailer that is a few days old. Much cooler and better presented than earlier stuff, not sure why their marketing is so late on the trigger pull. Notice a boss type at 1:27 so that means that not all the enemies will be humanoid type fodder.

Not if I mine your mines, if you don't mind, I have mines of mine own.

Playstation blog just confirmed that all future DLC maps will be free, that is a pretty big deal. As for bot like gameplay, it can't be any worse than BF3's terrible campaign and I think BF3 is an excellent game now being divided by DLC map packs. This is one game you take official reviews with a grain of salt, all these guys have gone in cold for the most part and because they weren't good at it right away so it's "bad".

Not saying rush out and buy it, but probably this is one where the user reviews will bear out more truthful to the actual quality of gameplay.

Reviews for this game are no more unfair than reviews for other games. Especially games with a general reputation amongst reviewers that is negative (not this title), thus lackadaisical reviews can pass the muster.

The only issue I've run into with one of the negative reviews is how wrong the reviewer was with regard to "Lone Wolf players". Decrying the lack of a lone wolf player to achieve much in the game, which is incorrect unless Lightbox has radically altered the scoring system from the beta. A competent player on the losing team can still have the most game points at the end of a match.

I suspect the reviewer's mistake is in equating killing other players as overly beneficial to the team. Starhawk is less about KDR and more about playing smart and working the scoring system by destroying enemy fortifications and players.

That's the only particularly egregious review I've run across.

The free maps is interesting, but how will they handle vehicles if they add more? Using fighting games as the example, where you download a patch containing the characters for when you encounter other players that have paid for them online. Will vehicle DLC be handled the same way (can't use the DLC vehicle pad, can't get into an abandoned DLC vehicle), or will vehicle DLC inevitably fracture the userbase?

Waiting for a price drop is never a bad idea. Since the DLC maps are free, maybe one or two of them will be out by the time Starhawk hits the $30-40 range.

Not to mention the 1.3 update to the beta added a lot of features before ending abruptly, so there is probably going to be a lot of fine tuning going on in the first few weeks / months of the game release.
