Protip (a little late!) for Chris (and anyone else):

If you use gmail, you can essentially make a new address without making a new address in most places. Labels! So if your email address was chris@gmail.com. You could do chris+bnet@gmail.com, most places don't realise that they're the same email address from Google's perspective so they allow you to sign up with different labels.

A friend had a similar problem that Chris had and signed up to battle.net again with his gmail account with a label and i'm fairly sure it worked fine for me him.

Of course that doesn't help you don't use gmail.. but it works with google hosted email too (for Google Apps).
