Default NIS America Press Event 2013!

Hey folks, I know not a lot of folk here are into Japanese RPGs but I've recently updated www.stupidlyepic.com with 3 articles and galleries for their three latest PS3 exclusive RPGs. Time and Eternity, The Guided Fate Paradox and of course, Disgaea Dimension 2: A Brighter Darkness!

All three of these games look incredible and I cannot wait to get my hands on them. But what do you guys think? I'd like you guys' input, tell me what excites you or whether you think you'll simply pass over these games. I'd like to get a discussion going and get these games exposed a bit more. NISA loves their fans and they deserve every bit of free advertising they can get!

I imported Toki Towa when it came out last year. That was my only gaming purchase regret I made last year. That game was garbage. In exchange for a full HD animation game everything else was garbage. The main character is such a pervert that I can't take him seriously, the quest system is annoying and a waste of time, combat is simplistic and annoying, and it feels hugely unfinished.

So much stuff just isn't fleshed out. Lots of the mechanics. There's always only one enemy on screen even if you encounter multiple enemies in a fight. And some enemies are just ridiculous. Like there's this one enemy that will 100% of the time attack you before you can do something useful. A physical resistant enemy will smack you repeatedly before you can launch one spell off of him, or he can knock you out of your escape command if you try that as well. I literately have to tank that stupid enemy every time I find him, because I can't hurt him with spells that he's weak against, and I can't just run away because he knocks me out of that before I can run. That's not fun game design.

Like I mentioned before, the main character is a pervert. Half his dialogue is either being jealous when Toki is talking to a guy, or wanting to take a bath with Toki/Toki's friends. When someone like that is the main character I have a hard time sympathizing with his situation....or wanting to play the game.

There's so much more I can rant about, but yeah Time and Eternity was a stinker of a game and a bad choice of localization. That aside I'm highly excited for the other two games.

I'm actually playing through Disgaea 4 right now, so I'm happy with the Disgaea series and am excited for a new one that has Laharl as the main character once again. Laharl turning into a girl is going to be hilarious, and all the new additions they're adding to the game sounds cool. I like the idea of monster mounts.

I've never played Z.H.P. (on the backlog), but I know that both these games are supposed to be hard games. I was initially turned off by the new artist on this game, but the trailer looks nice. So I'm starting to turn around on this game.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good time with Time and Eternity, man. From what you're saying it's kinda bad. The main thing that is attracting me to it though is the in-game character animation style. Looks very unique - Out of the three it does seem to be mechanically the weakest, but I'd rather play the game and find out for myself. Theres been too many people that tell me games are garbage that I end up really liking. Like Bionic Commando and Naughty Bear.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just rather play the game for myself though! Thanks for the response, good to hear some conversation on the matter!

Speaking of conversation Z.H.P is one hell of a game. Ryan from NISA literally just gave me the american retail version because he didn't want me to have to wait for the European release of it. And man, it was absolutely incredible and hilarious. You need to get on that, ASAP!

    There's a new Disgaea D2 trailer.

Don't worry about what they're saying. It's nothing important. You can visually tell what's going on.

I'll give a super rough, and bad translation. Enjoy.

0:10 Laharl "The Netherworld. The land where demons live. This land is ruled by a single ruler, Laharl. Laharl is a selfish demon that possesses great power. And so now..."
0:40 Etna "That's right. And so now it's the beginning of Beauty Queen Etna's amazing adventure!"
0:43 Laharl "Grr. Hey hold it!"
    0:46 Etna "Disgaea Dimension 2"
1:03 Not even gonna pretend I know what this means
1:10 Etna "The Netheworld Overlord, Prince Laharl. The Makai's number 1 dynamite sexy body is none other than me, Etna. The fallen angel that is always obsessed with love, Flonne. The Prince's little sister?! Cicily!"
1:27 Laharl "She's not my little sister damn it!"
1:29 Etna's speaking too fast for me to understand. I can somewhat make out the katakana and tell you that the guy's name is Senolith, and the girl is named Barbara. Also Etna makes a jab that Laharl isn't as strong as Barbara, and that makes Laharl mad. And then Etna mentions that the characters being shown in the dark are the bad guys.
1:47 Various random voice clips of the bad guys.
2:02 Etna "Man you sure got your work cut out for you!"
2:07 Laharl "Grr. I'll get you for that. Heh. Well whatever. I will just fight-"
2:15 Flonne "Hold it right there! This is but a simple strategy RPG, but there's an infinite number of ways to play it! A strategy RPG with so many ways to play it. That is none other than Disgaea!"
    2:29 Laharl "Flonne you are..."
2:31 Flonne then goes over lots and lots of the system mechanics. You can visually tell what's going on. Some of the notable things is that Item World is now the Item Sea. You can mount monster allies. There's an affection system where the more an ally likes you the more they'll defend you during attacks and join you for attacks.
3:20 Flonne "And so the battle for the Netherworld has just begun. Etna if you please."
    3:25 Etna "Sure thing Flonne."
3:27 Etna and Flonne "(something something) Strategy RPG Disgaea Dimension 2! Going on sale soon. We look forward to your purchase!"
After that it's just random chit chatter while the screen shows the limited edition content.

Like I said, this is not a very good or accurate translation. Take what I posted with a grain of salt.

wow, dude. You didn't have to do that. Thanks so much for the translation! Very, VERY awesome of you to spend time doing that. It's awesome that it seems like they're faithful with dialogue for the english translations though cause from what you wrote, its the kinda zany stuff I'd expect from Disgaea

Dunno what else to say, I'm touched. Especially since you said in your previous post that it was just random nonsense you didn't really need to know.

    Thanks again

It was fun trying to translate. Of course I'm really bad at it. I ended up getting two names wrong. Laharl's little sister is named Sicily, and Senolith is actually Xenolith. Also, there's some parts that feel like I translated wrong now that I'm re-watching the video. So yeah I tried, but it's not exactly a professional quality translation.
