I mentioned on the latest podcast episode (29) how I've narrowed down my top albums released in 2013 to 18 entries. From this list I will choose my overall Favorite of the Year (FotY).

    In no particular order:

    • Phox- Friendship
    • Coheed & Cambria- The Afterman: Descension
    • Black Joe Lewis- Electric Slave
    • Arcade Fire- Reflektor
    • Queens of the Stone Age- …Like Clockwork
    • Volcano Choir- repave
    • Jake Bugg- Shangri La
    • Al Di Meola- All Your Life
    • Bill Callahan- Dream River
    • Cage the Elephant- Melophobia
    • Clutch- Earth Rocker
    • Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge- Twelve Reasons to Die
    • Pickwick- Can’t Talk Medicine
    • Steve Martin & Edie Brickell- Love Has Come For You
    • Steven Wilson- The Raven That Refused to Sing (and other stories)

My favorite album of 2013 is ...

    NRSB-11's Commodified

The people behind NRSB-11 are Drexciya's Gerald Donald and Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray. Legendary talent in the field of electronic music and they delivered. Themes of ever growing corporate power and control, slave like consumerism, industrial espionage and bioethics. Dark, moody, cyberpunk, dystopian ... the perfect soundtrack for cruising through the night, replicant hunting or fabricant freeing.

Thesis, the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer dubbed with NRSB-11's music, perfect match

Now that 2014 is almost over, and I've had that many more months to listen to all the great albums from 2013, my favorite is definitely Volcano Choir's repave. And isn't that the best way to determine these types of things (wait for time to pass and see what's still left)?

NOTE this choice different from the one I made at end of 2013.
